Sal Eigh

Sal's writing and directing pursuits lie in the whimsically mundane moments of growing up. Gritty and pretty are two sides of the same coin in her universe.

Her debut short, (It’s) the Pits, premiered at Korean Film Festival Canada in Montreal in 2022. An exploratory work set in a skatepark, it showcases Sal’s interest in the lives of East Asian diaspora in urban spaces.

A second short film furthers her world-building; The Girls of Bathroom B is a little slice of life set in 1980, centred around a fictional Toronto high school. In 2023, Sal created her own indie production company, Productions Mauvais Oeil, with her partner and collaborator Jonathan Degousée.

Jonathan’s upcoming short, Bad Dreams, is the company's first new venture. A follow-up project, Cerys and Cade Make a Curse, was selected for a stage reading at Camden Fringe in London, UK as part of the Scratch Night Lab Fest in 2026. A short film version of the project is in development and is set to shoot in 2027, featuring an ethnically Korean cast.

In between these projects, Sal has studied media production at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, production managed short films, and continues to work professionally as a web developer. Born and raised in downtown Toronto, she now splits time between London (UK) and Montreal.
